Kittery ? The Sarah Long Bridge connecting Kittery, Maine and Portsmouth, New Hampshire will completely close to all traffic beginning on Monday, April 30th through Sunday, May 6th.
The anticipated warmer weather will allow the completion of work that has been deferred during the cold spring weather to date.
Work involves patching the towers at high altitudes. The contractor, Cianbro, will bring all the resources necessary including four man lifts to work on all four towers. For this reason, traffic cannot flow underneath for the safety of the workers and of the public. In addition, a series of drones will be utilized to help prioritize what work must be completed during this closure.
While weather dependent, the latest the bridge will reopen to traffic is anticipated to be after sunset on May 6th.
After that date, there are no future plans for full daytime closures.
