KITTERY - The Maine Department of Transportation will be conducting important safety improvements on the northbound side of I-95 on Friday, January 10th and Saturday, January 11th. This work will be happening on the New Hampshire approach to the Piscataqua River Bridge.
On Friday, we will be doing paving work that will require us to close the left-hand lane on the northbound side. We expect this lane restriction will begin at 9:00 a.m. and could last until 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, crews will be restriping the pavement to make it easier for drivers to see the shifting lanes in our construction area. During Saturday's work, there will be times when we have to restrict northbound traffic to one lane. This work will begin at 6:00 a.m. and be done by the afternoon. As with all work, this will be weather-dependent.
We realize these closures are likely to cause some traffic back-ups, but the safety of motorists traveling through this area is paramount, and we need to improve the striping. We appreciate the public's attention and help as we continue this important project to improve safety and mobility on Maine's most important bridge.
