Pittsfield ? Paving and other road work will occur on Interstate 95 north and southbound in Pittsfield, Palmyra and Newport beginning on Monday, May 1st.
The project is located on I-95 northbound beginning 0.04 of a mile north of Johnson Flat Road in Pittsfield and extends northerly for 13.57 miles to the bridge over the Maine Central Railroad in Newport.
The southbound section will be from the Palmyra/Pittsfield town line to the Exit 150 off-ramp in Pittsfield at Somerset Avenue.
There will be single lane restrictions on the north and southbound lanes from May 1st to November 4th. Single lane closures will occur from May 1st until June 17th during daytime hours. Work from June 17th to September 9th will be from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
After September 9th work resumes during daytime hours. There will be a lane restriction during work on the bridge joints for Webb Road and Somerset Avenue bridges. This closure is expected to last no more than 40 days. This will be a single lane restriction for approximately 2 miles.
Work is expected to occur in this area 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. Ramp closures for all exits will be advertised and posted on area message boards 72 hours prior to the closure.
Crews will be performing pavement milling, hot mix asphalt overlay, clearing trees and brush encroaching on the roadway as well as bridge work with drainage and safety improvements including guardrail work.
It is anticipated all work will be completed by the first week of November, 2017.
Lane Construction of Hermon will perform this $5.6 million project.
