Brewer/Eddington/Holden ? The Maine Department of Transportation will conduct an informational meeting regarding on the I-395/Route 9 Connector on Wednesday, July 20th at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Eddington Elementary School located at 440 Main Road (Route 9) in Eddington. While the meeting is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., MaineDOT staff will be available for individual questions before the meeting starting at 5:00 p.m. as well as after the meeting until all individual questions are addressed.
The main focus of the meeting is to describe the recent issuance of the Record of Decision (ROD) by the Federal Highway Administration on June 23rd. The issuance of the ROD is the final step in the National Environmental Act (NEPA) process and in the study to determine the alternative to be designed.
Based upon the information provided in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), consultation with federal, state, local agencies, and the general public; and review of comments received on the EIS, the FHWA, by its issuance of the ROD, has selected alternative 2B-2 as the build alternative. That decision now allows MaineDOT to transition the study to a project and begin the design and right-of-way process on the project.
In addition to discussing the ROD decision, MaineDOT staff will present information regarding the study background, but more importantly will discuss the future process and estimated timeline as the project begins the design process and ultimately leads toward construction.
Members of MaineDOT?s Bureau of Planning (responsible for the study), Bureau of Project Development (responsible to design and construct the project), and the Property Office (responsible for right-of-way and property impacts) will be available to present and answer questions.
